To Managers and Mentors of New Staff
Training Workshop
Friday 26th February 2010
9am - 5pm
Venue: Plymouth Professional Development Centre
The CWDC www.cwdcouncil.org.uk says that one of the most important mechanisms for people working with children and young people is their induction stage. The importance of a manager's role in this is huge: new workers need your support to help them find opportunities to gain appropriate experience; and to find the time to reflect and think about how they are working. The CWDC Induction provides a chance for managers and staff to talk together about how we can improve the lives of children, young people and their families.
We would now like to support managers to build their own confidence in their skills of assessing staff against CWDC induction standards. This workshop is being facilitated by CWDC. You will be developing simple practical focused ways of planning and having professional discussions with your staff. Professional discussions provide an opportunity for participants to effectively explore their work, their interventions and their understanding of their role in the wider workforce.
Following this you will be expected, encouraged and supported to take the workshop back to your own setting, and train and support other managers to have these discussions.
The free workshop will be offered to managers and mentors in the voluntary, private, independent sectors as well as to statutory sectors and will run on Friday 26th February 2010.
